GEF ENVITECC at Regional PCB Workshop
EBRD ENVITECC participated as a speaker to the Regional Workshop in Bratislava (April 2024) on "Environmentally Sound Management and Disposal of Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs)", aiming to accelerate action in eliminating it in Europe, working towards the 2025 and 2028 deadlines under the Stockholm Convention.
Over three days government representatives from 19 European countries, participants and experts shared experiences of updating PCB national inventories, developing national implementation plans, and explored sustainable financing options to phase out and dispose of PCB in electrical equipment.
The workshop marked the beginning of a series of regional workshops to be held between April and June 2024 to provide training and technical assistance on the sound management and disposal of PCB.
EBRD shared its unique experience under GEF ENVITECC on channelling grant support for its private and public sector clients for the identification and safe disposal of PCB-contaminated equipment and technological replacement support.
ENVITECC is grateful to Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm Conventions (BRS) Secretariat for the invitation.
