ENVITECC POPs Technology Guide
Technology Guide Development for Sound Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) Management in the Mediterranean Region (Balkans, SEMED and Türkiye) study is funded by the EBRD’s Environmental Technology Transfer Programme (ENVITECC) under the Global Environment Facility (GEF) funded MedProgramme.
Earth Active Ltd. have been commissioned by the EBRD to undertake research to identify and assess off-the-shelf technologies for the responsible management of POPs in the Mediterranean region. The assignment focused on four groups of POPs – Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs), per / poly fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS/PFOS), hexabromocyclododecane (HBCD) and short-chain chlorinated paraffins (SCCP), in eight countries across the Mediterranean region, namely Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Egypt, Lebanon, Montenegro, Morocco, Tunisia, and Türkiye.
Ultimately, it is intended that suitable technologies and POPs-free materials identified as part of this assignment will be made available in the EBRD’s Green Technology Selector, which is a global shopping-style online platform launched by the EBRD in 2018 that connects vendors of the best green technologies with forward-thinking business and homeowners.
